Carmelo Anthony unhappy Knicks blew it with LaMarcus Aldridge
Boeheim also told the Daily News that he hopes the Knicks put more pieces around Anthony to try and win a championship because he knows all-too-well what that means if you don’t.

“Me and Phil talked about that a long time ago”, Anthony said.
“On one side”, he said, “guys that we got rid of were close to me and my friends, and on the flip side of that, it’s a business at the end of the day. I know when I was talking to him we had a very great shot”. Usually matched up against the opposition’s best wing defender, if he’s not double-teamed, Anthony’s ingenuity and shot-making ability gets him beaucoup buckets.
“I didn’t know that”, Anthony said about the request for Aldridge to change positions.
In Boeheim’s eyes, Anthony would have helped his championship aspirations if he left the Big Apple and went to another squad that wanted to bring him in – the Chicago Bulls. As the Daily News reported, the Knicks wanted Aldridge to play the unfamiliar position of center to free up minutes at power forward for rookie Kristaps Porzingis. That’s just what happens in New York and the draft.
Carmelo Anthony’s college coach didn’t mince words when he reiterated previous comments stating that the New York Knicks forward would have been better off signing with the Chicago Bulls during free agency in 2014. But before that I was excited to meet with them.
While working out with Aldridge at Team USA training camp this week, Anthony says Aldridge told him that he ended up not meeting with the Knicks because the team envisioned him playing strictly center. I don’t really know where playing the center position comes in.
“But I think [Chicago] was a better situation to win”.
Anthony has maintained he does not regret his decision to stay in New York and has denied trade rumors, even telling a Knicks fan on Instagram that he’s “stuck with him.” “Every year they set out with hope that they’re not going to be in last place”. Arron Afflalo and Robin Lopez followed. He tried it last season with the Knicks, Anthony said. Frankly, I don’t look for miracles.
