Carol Burnett rocks UGG slippers at the 2016 SAG Awards

The 82-year-old The Carol Burnett Show star took home the Life Achievement Award at the SAG Awards on Saturday, Jan. 30 – and we couldn’t be happier the actress received this special honor! This got big laughs from the crowd and even appeared to make Burnett blush, and of course Fey pretend-corrected her. “From her Broadway debut in Once Upon a Mattress in 1959 to 11 glorious seasons of her own smash hit variety show to her unforgettable film roles in movies like The Front Page and Annie – right up until this year’s unauthorized biopic Carol, about her longtime friendship with Julie Andrews”. “We love her, and we thank her”, the pair concluded. “It was important for us to see that Carol was also the boss”, said Fey.

After six decades in the business, Burnett hasn’t shown signs of slowing down. “I’m so glad we had this time together”.

She continued: “In essence, we mounted a musical comedy review every week and, oh God, did we have fun”. “From her heartbreakingly hilarious Starlet O’Hara to the adorably inept Eunice and alarmingly amusing Miss Hannigan, Carol has delighted and inspired millions of viewers and thousands of comedic actors”. Burnett said something very similar about herself earlier this week. After an awesome introduction from Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, Carol said she was once told comedy was a ‘man’s game.’ Looks like she proved those haters wrong!

Burnett is the 52nd recipient of the Life Achievement Award, joining the likes of Dick Van Dyke, Mary Tyler Moore and Betty White.
