Carolina Panthers trade for defensive end Jared Allen

The Carolina Panthers have acquired defensive end Jared Allen from the Chicago Bears in a trade, pending a physical examination. Last season, he had a career-low 5.5 in his first season with the Bears. The sports analyst added, “There is always a chance that Allen will end up struggling with the Panthers, but he will immediately step into a leadership role and will be given a brand new start”.

Allen’s trade comes as yet another absence for the Bears from their Week 1 roster going into this week’s game against the Raiders as it is expected that quarterback Jay Cutler could be out for a second straight week.

The Panthers made the move after their top pass rusher Charles Johnson went down with a hamstring injury in Sunday’s 27-22 win over the New Orleans Saints.

The Tribune has confirmed that Allen has been traded to the Carolina Panthers in exchange for a conditional draft pick.

Glazer is reporting the Bears will receive a 6th round draft pick for Allen. “I want to get Peyton as comfortable as I possibly can”, Kubiak said. “He plays the run well”. This season, Allen played in 3 games, recording 5 tackles but no sacks. Pace spent Monday afternoon unloading two former defensive starters in linebackers Jared Allen and Jon Bostic. “Just a competitor. You have to bring your best each play or he could embarrass you”.

“It’s an opportunity to get Willie Young on the field”, Fox said of the end-turned-outside linebacker, who was a healthy scratch in Week Three.

Allen is now back to his ideal playing weight. The Week 4 match will see the Carolina Panthers traveling to the Raymond James Stadium to play against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday (October 4). Carolina also has elite linebackers in Luke Kuechly and Thomas Davis who will be behind Allen on the front seven to free him up. David Newton of ESPN reported the injury to the same hamstring that that bothered Johnson past year. Allen has come close before but is yet to win a Super Bowl.

Head coach Ron Rivera on Monday admitted the Panthers would “sit down and talk about” how they’d replace their best pass rusher. The good news for the Panthers, who had just one sack, is McCown’s longest completion went 23 yards.

The Bears should make every effort to resign Jeffery this offseason, and if they can’t, put the franchise tag on him and keep trying to sign him.

As much as it hurts, the Bears should look to trade Forte, too.
