Carpool Karaoke goes Broadway ahead of Tony Awards
How better to prepare for the upcoming Tony Awards than with a auto full of Broadway stars singing carpool karaoke?

The clip begins with Corden thanking “Hamilton” creator Lin-Manuel Miranda for his directional assistance as he drives in new territory-Corden usually films the popular segment in Los Angeles-towards the Upper West Side.
While James Corden made the ill-advised choice to drive his vehicle through New York City’s crowded Broadway, he did at least find himself in some good company.
The pair continue to drive along New York City and just happen to pick up six-time Tony victor Audra McDonald, Modern Family star Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt star Jane Krakowski. Corden is slated to host the award show on Sunday – and Miranda’s smash hit musical is up for a record-setting 16 nominations.
The five-some go full-tilt Theater Queen with renditions of Broadway standards including “Seasons of Love” from “Rent” and “Can’t Take My Eyes Off Of You” from “Jersey Boys”. “People want to have a great time”, McDonald tells him. It’s just, we call it Carpool Karaoke, so without that.’ And then I thought, I’ve just got to go. The opening strains of “Seasons of Love” from “Rent” make everyone in the auto go, “Awww” and then they sing together, throwing in harmonies and all sorts of goodness, and it feels like all will be right with the world. “Ask them to sing along with you”.
James Corden will host the Tony Awards on Sunday, June 12th. It’s a long evening, so just have fun.
Finally, they concluded with Les Mis’s Act I finale song, “One Day More”.

Stick around to the very end to hear the trill McDonald puts on the final glory note, in a moment in which we are all Lin-Manuel Miranda shouting, “WHAT?!”
