Carr lights up Ravens, Raiders rally to win

But the Ravens, as they had all game, gave as good as they got, taking charge in the final quarter beginning with another successful Justin Tucker field goal. “But I think we have a special group of guys”. An incredible stat when you consider Woodson’s age and playing the physical safety position that one of the oldest players in the league has been able to play every game since signing with the Raiders a few seasons ago.

“First and second down, we have to be efficient”, he said. “He’s really trying hard to make it. We’ll finish that evaluation as we get closer to the game”.

There was no explaining why Ravens cornerback Kyle Arrington allowed Raiders wide receiver Seth Roberts – a practice squad player previous year – to run free over the middle for the winning touchdown with 26 seconds remaining.

It was a brilliant finish for Carr that almost wasn’t.

In that game, Manning threw for 256 yards and three touchdowns, the third of which came with just 36 seconds to go to tie up the game and set the stage for the dramatic finale and Roby’s final touchdown.

Carr, who left last week’s game against the Bengals with an injury to his right thumb, threw for a career-high 351 yards and three touchdowns with one interception. The Ravens gave up just 219 total yards to the Broncos in Week 1, the stingiest total in the NFL. The Raiders will try to keep extra defenders in the passing game, but an improved rushing attack will help out Flacco.

So keeping that in mind, the Oakland Raiders have some positives to ride with, especially when the Baltimore Ravens showed a weak offense against the Denver Broncos for week 1.

Disaster almost struck when Carr was intercepted inside the 10, but a defensive holding penalty reversed that turnover. “But they called it, and they did a great job”.

Hopefully the Ravens can take advantage of the Raiders weaknesses and bounce back from last week, a repeat of the two teams last meeting certainly wouldn’t go amiss. You’d have to go all the way back to 2005 for the last time they had two receivers with both 100 yards and a touchdown each in a game.

-WR Steve Smith Sr. caught 10 passes for 150 yards Sunday in a 37-33 loss to Oakland. We understood that we had to find a way to win. No matter how you slice it, a W always feels a whole lot better than a loss.

The offense opened up considerably, and that early strike to Cooper was a big reason.

Del Rio said Woodson’s status will determine who else plays.

Oakland Raiders running back Latavius Murray (28) runs up field in the fourth quarter as the Baltimore Ravens face the Oakland Raiders at O.co Coliseum in Oakland, Calif., on Sunday, September 13, 2015. Quite frankly, we didn’t do that today. Dumervil had two tackles, one quarterback hit and no sacks. But just as Del Rio refused to focus on any positives in a stinker of a loss last week, he wasn’t in the mood to dwell on any negatives after the victory.

Woodson said while the win was full of flaws, it beat the alternative. But for today, they were enough.

“We need to take our shots”, said Flacco, via the Baltimore Sunday .

Carr is an emotional guy, and this was an emotional game – look at Del Rio’s eyes in his postgame news conference – and it could have all been too much for a young quarterback.
