The ex-striker watched on as Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool defeated Chelsea in impressive fashion at Stamford Bridge last Friday, and thinks this could be a promising season for his former club.

After a rather shaky start to the new Premier League season, Liverpool have managed to improve their performances and have also capitalised on the undoings of their fellow title rivals in England’s top-tier.
“It only makes sense to be part of a cup competition with the aim to win it”, said Klopp.
Ragnar Klavan is fit again so he should start in defence and could be joined by Mamadou Sakho as the French global needs game-time as he looks to try and resurrect his career at Anfield. They said if I give him three days then everything will be flawless.
“I enjoy it more”, he said, when asked about the importance of hugging his players.
“It’s not that we have nothing else to do – we could train today and tomorrow, which would be very important, but [instead] we have a very competitive game against a strong side”. “That’s the good news and you can be sure that we will find a strong lineup again for this game”.
“Tall players like him need physical fitness”.
Manager Juergen Klopp’s leadership is laying the foundations for “something special” at Liverpool, forward Giorginio Wijnaldum has said.
“It’s not about speaking about trophies”.
“What I can say is the phone’s going, and people are enquiring “what is the next move” and I am chewing over a lot of different things in my head but there’s nothing to announce at the moment”. Derby are an ambitious club.
And between 2011-15, they worked together at Borussia Dortmund, where Klopp led the first team and Wagner the seconds.

Joel Matip has stepped up in the Frenchman’s absence and Klopp has been delighted with the start to his Liverpool career.
