Carrie Underwood And Brad Paisley Win At Teen Choice Awards

The Teen Choice Awards featured no mention of late singer Christina Grimmie which has left fans fuming, claiming the show “exploited” her death.

How heartbreaking for Christina Grimmie’s family. Among the six nominees was Christina Grimmie, the 22-year-old pop star who was shot and killed this past June while signing autographs after a concert in Orlando. Photos of those lost this year to gun violence flashed across the screen while Marvin Gaye’s “What’s Going On” played throughout The Forum in L.A.

Jessica Alba made an appearance at the Teen Choice Awards on Sunday, where she took part in one of the most powerful moments of the night. Christina Grimmie shot, killed at Orlando concertGrimmie won the Choice Web Star for the music category, beating out Boyce Avenue, Chloe X Halle, Cimorelli, Johnny Orlando and MattyBRaps.

All fair points. It’s especially frustrating considering they used Christina’s name to PROMOTE the broadcast – the least they could have done was mention her name! She got a little too carried away with saying hi to fans and ran right into it. Thanks girl for letting everyone know it’s okay to have fun on stage!

Over 21,000 people “liked” fellow YouTube star Shane Dawson, who angrily said he was glad there was no tribute from the “trash show”. Those tweets earned tens of thousands of retweets in total – enough for Grimmie to secure the award.

A change.org petition has now been set up to demand a formal apology from Teen Choice and FOX. She deserves better than that.

From Justin Timberlake’s inspirational speech to Jessica Alba’s emotional tribute to gun violence, this was one award show not to miss. And so, he introduced the very first Teen Choice Presidential Election, in which Victoria Justice was a trope-y Donald Trump obsessed with saying “yuge” and John Cena was a Hillary Clinton who was evidently only identifiable by her pantsuit. “They’re the brothers, sisters, daughters and family members of recent victims of gun violence”.
