Trump and Carson picked their monikers from a list of options chosen by the Secret Service, in consultation with the White House Communications Agency, a military agency in the White House. Carson is known as a very spiritual man and frequently quotes from the Bible, and Eli is typically attached to the phrase “God is the most high”.

Trump’s and Carson’s campaigns were given a short list of four to five code names to pick from in meeting with the Secret Service on Monday. Trump then sent back to the Secret Service a couple of names that he found acceptable, including “Mogul”.
A Carson official did not immediately return an email seeking comment. The name is usually not a secret & doesn’t give away any sensitive info – it is merely used as a approach to have a brief, effortless name to explain the individual being protected amongst agents. The most striking example was when George W. Bush was elected president and insisted that his code name from his time as the son of a president, TUMBLER, be changed to TRAILBLAZER.
Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton, meanwhile, has long enjoyed agency protection as a former first lady.
Fox News said Tuesday that Secret Service agents call Obama “Renegade”, while Hillary Clinton goes by “Evergreen”.
The names are a far cry from the tongue-in-cheek signatures the candidates chose during the September presidential debate.

The billionaire businessman has been assigned the name “Mogul”, according to Ed Henry, Fox News’ chief White House correspondent. He joined the network in June 2011.
