Carson: Syrian Refugees Happy in Jordan, Want to Go Home

Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson is not in favor of the us taking in Syrian refugees who have fled the civil war in their country because he said it would not help solve their problem.

Carson also said the refugees were “pretty uniform” in saying that the US should support the efforts of the Jordanians.

“I think the military solution, obviously, is to try to exterminate ISIS and the other radical jihadists who will not allow peace to occur under any circumstances until they achieve their goals”, ht continued.

“If it’s someone that you know nothing about – they’re presenting you documents that may or may not truly be them, there’s no database to compare them off of, that’s a different story and that’s the point that I’ve made”.

“In terms of money, when I looked at the refugee camps in Jordan, there’s about a three billion [dollar] shortfall annually”. “They want to go home”, Carson tells ABC’s Martha Raddatz. “And they are putting in all kinds of things that make life more tolerable”. He said while refugees want to return to Syria, “they are satisfied to be in the refugee camps if the refugee camps are adequately funded”. He said this month in a Washington Post article about the religious politics of refugees that Christians should be a higher priority for Americans than Muslims because there are no nearby countries in the Middle East with large Christian populations where they can easily resettle.

Carson said that it was up to the worldwide community to provide better support and encouragement to Arab countries hosting the refugees, though he stressed to the AP that US aid should be raised by Americans themselves, rather than through increased government spending. All you have to do is go to an article on the internet and go to the comments section, you don’t get five comments down before people start calling each other names and abouting like idiots. “That is ultimately what we need to do, and this president hasn’t led in that regard”. Many Republicans have linked the Paris attackers to Syrian refugees, although European authorities have yet to confirm such connections.

In addition, it’s worth looking at the situation at the Azraq camp, which is the newer and significantly more advanced of the two camps that Carson toured. Bringing 25,000 refugees to the United States does nothing to solve this crisis. Ask them what do you need in order to accomplish this? The family research council according to some government agencies is a terrorist group so let’s get away from the rhetoric and talk about the real problem. And they hope missions like this will help change that. He did not specify which camps were on Carson’s schedule and said Carson was due to leave the region on Sunday.
