Carson Wentz and Doug Pederson shine in their National Football League debuts
Robert Griffin III suffered a sprained left shoulder in his Browns debut, and Eagles rookie quarterback Carson Wentz looks like he just might be a top 20 National Football League quarterback afterall.

“I thought Wentz looked really good, he looked really composed”. The Eagles defeated the Browns, 29-10.
The rookie, whom the Eagles traded up with the Browns to No. 2 to get, completed 22 of 37 yards for 278 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions for a 101.0 rating.
But on a second-and-five play from Philadelphia’s 28-yard line, Robert Griffin III’s pass for Corey Coleman was tipped and ultimately intercepted by the Eagles Rodney McLeod. You wonder if the Browns and their fans now regret that decision.
Said Jackson: “I thought he was a little inconsistent early, but I thought he got his confidence as he went”. Wentz threw a flawless ball to the left side of the end zone that Matthews caught easily for a 19-yard score.
“I did not see that coming, I was pretty impressed”.
The Browns and Eagles played a weird game that would eventually end in an Eagles blowout.
The Eagles would get the football after the safety and take control of the game.
It was essentially a flawless start for Wentz. For Philadelphia, rookie Carson Wentz was quickly given the starting job after the Eagles traded Sam Bradford just a week prior to the game.
Wentz set the tone on the opening drive of the game when he took the Eagles 75 yards down field and capped the march with a perfectly lobbed 19-yard touchdown pass over the shoulder of wide receiver Jordan Matthews. There’s a song on it called ‘Fly Over States, ‘ and it made a sense because where he lives is a flyover state. “Then they got those two points and got the ball back and scored [to make it 22-10] and then things got a lot tougher”. “This is his DNA”. But he made up for it on the opening play of the second half when he beat double coverage to haul in a 58-yard catch from Griffin. Wentz was never close to being intercepted.
Eagles fans got a sense for who he is as a quarterback against the Browns. Nelson Agholor had four catches for 57 yards and one TD.
“She’s really concerned about me”, Griffin said. “Believe me, I have places to go”. I think Coach [Doug Pederson] has done it before in Kansas City with Dantari Poe as the lead blocker on the goal line, stuff like that, so I got my opportunity today and it was great.
Later, Wentz threw a ideal touchdown down the right sideline to Nelson Agholor, one play after drilling it in to Zach Ertz over the middle on a fourth-and-1 call. “We’ll see more tomorrow and see how my shoulder is feeling and just move on from there”. “I can’t think about that practicing this next game against Baltimore, we have a good team rolling in and we have to go out there and be focused”. I asked him, “What do you all listen to out in North Dakota?’ I don’t know of any rappers from North Dakota.’ He said his favorite album was from (country music star) Jason Aldean”. I came out here and had fun today and had a great team win. But at the same time, you don’t want to gas the situation.
Wide receiver Josh Huff: “Carson did an excellent job handling the offense and getting everyone ready to play”. I said earlier in the week that there is just something about that kid.
Allen insists he has to do more than just find a body to hit.

NDSU President Bresciani was also there to cheer on Wentz proudly wearing his green and gold. Now he’s saying them in Philadelphia.
