With no word on when Griffin will be back, the Browns may be forced to explore the market for a possible replacement. The team pretty much placed all its bets on Griffin and backup Josh McCown, neither of whom is reliable.
New Browns starting quarterback Josh McCown, as you might suspect, is not accepting that fate.
Robert Griffin III will miss at least eight games – and potentially the season – after breaking a bone in his left shoulder during his regular-season debut with the Browns against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday. The No. 3 overall pick out of Ohio State, Bosa missed all of training camp and the preseason while embroiled in a contract dispute with the club.
Wentz became the highest Football Bowl Subdivision college football quarterback drafted in NFL draft history and was seen as the one to help the Eagles win the franchise’s first Super Bowl.
Even on some of Wentz’s great throws, there were either causes for concern or areas for improvement – depending on how you want to look at them. The Eagles controlled the clock, controlled the game, controlled the Browns, and found their way to 1-0 with a quarterback making his first National Football League start. I just remember this guy having no conscious, just throwing the ball in there and completing passes against us.
The insane part about it is the Browns initially held the second overall pick and the chance to take Wentz, but the team felt the North Dakota State quarterback wasn’t all he’s cracked up to be.
David Harris (LB, New York Jets): Had two tackles and two assists in Jets’ 23-22 loss to Cincinnati. McCown was knocked out of the game on the opening drive when he tried to dive into the end zone for a touchdown. Last year, they averaged 76 defensive snaps per game.
“Especially in the quarterback room and in every room, you are so tight and you grow in relationships with guys”, McCown said.
“He’s been through a lot”, Jackson said.
“That part is disappointing for all of us and I do share in their feelings, everybody’s feelings – our fans, others within the organization – because we all want it quick”.
