Carson Wentz’s confidence will be crucial to National Football League transition
Instead, the Browns are going with Robert Griffin III, who has some National Football League experience and should have the understanding of the situation he is in.

His team had endured more than half a decade without a playoff win. Philadelphia never would have received a first-round pick, much less a first-round pick and a conditional fourth-round pick (which can become a second- or third-round choice), for Bradford six months ago. And expectations were astronomical.
The Eagles’ other 50 roster members practiced in preparation for Sunday’s regular-season opener against the Cleveland Browns.
Pluto says the Browns are basically playing to lose this season.
For Wentz, it’s uncharted waters.
“Well, yeah, we definitely had heard the comments and all that, ” first-year Eagles coach Doug Pederson said Wednesday morning (via Cleveland.com) of the Browns’ comments that Wentz wasn’t a good fit in Cleveland.
Wentz will be under center when Philadelphia takes the field Sunday against the Cleveland Browns. Don’t tell everybody, show everybody what you can do. But the point he was attempting to make was more about the risk inherent when a team drafts a player at the position. “Come in, let’s work, let’s have fun and let’s enjoy this process”. He has appeared in all four preseason games, completing 37-of-60 passes for 332 yards, a touchdown, and two interceptions. Even the top rookie quarterbacks make their share of mistakes during their first season in the NFL.
“It was exciting”, he said. “But to me, this is just the beginning of the new normal”.
Wentz in his brief preseason appearance against the Bucs showed the same recklessness that got RGIII into trouble during his days in Washington. How have they fared in recent years in the same situation?
Wentz missed most of the preseason with two broken ribs he suffered essentially by doing what RGIII used to do. Those are the kind of quarterbacks we need. Again, it comes down to individual evaluation of a player. Just knowing him and knowing how he prepares, and knowing what he’s done in the past.
“We just need to elevate our game and help him in any way possible.” said Celek.
Peterson said Wentz, who played in a pro-style offense at North Dakota State, stood out head and shoulders above his FCS competition.
With that said, Pederson also mentioned Wentz’s running ability, something Sam Bradford didn’t bring, and also said he doesn’t want to “harness” or hold back Wentz’s deep passing ability.
“When the pressure’s on, guys revert back to their habits, and you have to make sure that you train yourself so diligently that your habits are what you’ve been training, not what you did before”. I guess somebody might have been surprised at my athleticism, but I don’t think anybody on this team was too surprised. It was the Browns who bypassed Wentz in last past spring’s draft when they traded away the No. 2 pick to the Eagles.
So in an alternate universe, the Browns could have drafted Wentz and had him compete with RGIII for the starting job.

It seems like everyone always wants to know where you were when “such and such” happened, and according to NFL Network broadcaster, Andrew Siciliano, Carson said “I was laying in the middle of a cornfield hunting”. At the same time, he’s looking forward to it.
