Price gave up two home runs to Rays backup catcher Curt Casali – a close friend who had two home runs against Detroit on Monday as well.

For the second consecutive game, Casali blasted two home runs, adding a single into the mix as well, to lead Tampa Bay to a 10-1 victory over David Price and the Tigers Tuesday night at Tropicana Field.

The small, but appreciative crowd at Tropicana Field stood and cheered, urging Curt Casali to pop out of the dugout for a curtain call. The solo shot briefly tied it at 1 in the fourth.

Rays: SS Asdrubal Cabrera (strained right hamstring) was activated after the game, and IF Jake Elmore was optioned to Triple-A Durham…. “He swung a hot bat”. “David is one of the best in the game, just was a tick off tonight and we ran into Curt Casali the last couple nights….”

Tampa Bay’s Chris Archer lost his ideal game bid with one out in the seventh inning when Jose Iglesias reached on an infield single.

The fourth-place Tigers (48-52) have dropped three straight and 11 of 15, potentially leaving the four-time defending AL Central champions as sellers with the trade deadline approaching. The Detroit Tigers stink right now.

Tomorrow night, The Tigers open a 4-game series at Baltimore. Tampa Bay played down a man Tuesday, with a corresponding addition expected after the game…. The primary knock on Sanchez is that when he isn’t striking out hitters, he’s allowing the highest FB/GB rate of his career, a legitimate long-term concern that needs to be addressed. After Neftali Feliz fanned Casali with the bases loaded, Beckham tripled to drive in three more runs and finish with four RBIs. Hes gone deep six times in his last six games with a plate appearance and six of his last eight hits have been home runs.

“This might have been our best offensive output”, Cash said.

Tigers: Manager Brad Ausmus is optimistic that 1B Miguel Cabrera’s recovery from a left calf strain “will be on the short side” of the six-to-eight week estimates…

Kiermaier left the game in the sixth inning with an abrasion of his left eye.

Casali’s first blast gave the Rays a 1-0 lead in the third inning before the second made it a 5-2 in the eighth after the Tigers had closed within 3-2 in the top of the frame. Casali, who was traded for left-hander Kyle Lobstein just before the start o the 2013 season, added a towering two-run homer off the B-ring catwalk, his fifth of the season, off Bruce Rondon in the eighth.
