Casey clear of the Deutsche field
Rory McIlroy roared from six shots off the pace in the final round to win the Deutsche Bank Championship.

McIlroy was four over through the first three holes of the championship, but he roared back into contention at the weekend before sealing victory with a six under par final round of 65.
Third round leader Casey had begun the day three shots clear, but saw his challenge unravel after posting four bogeys in a two-over-par 73 to finish second.
He played the next 15 holes in 4 under to get back to even par, which contributed mightily to his 20th victory worldwide.
Casey threw away two shots early in the round with a poor chip on the par-5 second hole and a three-putt bogey on the fifth.
“It’s just incredible how things can change in this game from being three over par early in this tournament”, he said.
This was McIlroy’s first tournament triumph since winning the Irish Open in May and his first PGA title since May 2015, and lifted him to No. 3 in the world rankings.
“It’s nice to get that first win in the States this year and hopefully I can take this momentum into the next couple of weeks and ultimately the Ryder Cup”, he said.
Finally. Rory McIlroy, equipped with something resembling his former putting stroke, has returned to the winner’s circle on the PGA Tour.
He bogeyed 17 – his first dropped shot of the day – to offer his English rival a glimmer of hope before rebounding at the last to record one final birdie to seal his win.
McIlroy went for the green in two and put his ball in the sand trap on the right.
He changed his putter – from a Nike Method Origin blade to a Scotty Cameron for Titleist Newport M1 prototype – last week at The Barclays and recently brought on a new putting coach – Phil Kenyon, Henrik Stenson’s guy.
Like McIlroy, Scott also had a positive final round with a 65. “I’m really excited going into the last part of the season”.

“I don’t know if any criticism is unfair”, McIlroy said in quotes reported by Sky Sports. However, after dumping his approach shot at No. 18 in the green side bunker, McIlroy got up and down for a birdie. I found something. I still need to keep going with it. At the Deutsche Bank Championship, he was third in the field, while he led in the Putting Average stat. His birdie try rolled past the hole, and he missed the par putt.
