“Just the atmosphere”, Winston said of Michigan State. “That’s all we’re waiting for”.

Winston, the 6-foot-1, 185-pound point guard from U-D Jesuit, made it official at a school pep rally on Friday, putting on a customized Michigan State hat complete with his nickname and number on the side that read, “Caz 5”.

That ranking is unlikely to hold.

Winston’s pledge is the third commitment Izzo has secured for 2016, and positions the Spartans for an even bigger coup in the near future.

The final piece of that puzzle is Miles Bridges, the five-star forward from Flint.

Winston has led his high school, U. of D. Jesuit, to back-to-back appearances in the state semifinals.

Winston, a friend of Bridges who plays AAU alongside him, said he would like to see Bridges join Michigan State’s class, but won’t pressure him to do so. “I want to thank all the coaches that recruited me”.

“I love Coach Izzo”, Wendi said. “But if he doesn’t, I wish the best for him”.

The commitment boosts MSU’s 2016 recruiting class significantly.

After losing Adreian Payne and Gary Harris the year before, last season’s No. 7 seed that upset Virginia and Louisville on the way to Indianapolis was not one of Tom Izzo’s most talented teams. Soon, the bleachers for the soccer game next door were empty, and Izzo had a line next to him for everyone to meet him.

Winston, a top 30 player in the country, is a prolific scorer and with a penchant for versatility. They play together. They’re trying to win games and win the national championship. In May, Winston fractured his wrist and had a cast on it for five weeks, according to Travis Hines of the Ames Tribune (via the Detroit Free Press).

“I think it will change this year”. “I turn this over for him”. He was able to play with numerous current Spartans as well as former players, including Draymond Green. Tom Izzo in the gym.’ I didn’t know what was going on.

He also spent plenty of time with Bridges – increasing the hope for fans that the two both continue their basketball careers together in East Lansing.

“I don’t think I’ve seen a high school player that’s a better passer, in my era, than Cassius is”, he said.
