Hatchett is representing Philando Castile’s family in civil matters.

Investigators have declined to say what led up to last week’s shooting of the 32-year-old school cafeteria supervisor, whose death helped spark protests around the nation, including one in Dallas in which five police officers were killed and several more were wounded. ‘We have often seen demonstrations and debates and I raise the critical question, “When will there be systemic reform?”‘

Castile had no felony record and his family is “very passionate and committed to ensuring that Philando’s death is not just another statistic”, Hatchett said in the statement.

Castile, who was about to turn 33, was fatally shot by police during a traffic stop July 6 in Falcon Heights, Minn.

Hatchett and Castile’s other Valerie (right) are scheduled to speak at a press conference on Tuesday.

Hatchett hosts the nationally syndicated TV show “Judge Hatchett” and served eight years as chief judge of a juvenile court in Atlanta.

“Judge Hatchett” ran for nearly eight years in syndication until it was canceled in 2008 and has been aired in reruns ever since.

Judge Hatchett, which is similar to Judge Judge or The People’s Court, continues to run reruns. “Yes, there will be a lawsuit”, Hatchett told reporters.
