Actress Stana Katic and actor Nathan Fillion attend The Paley presentation of “Castle” at The Paley Center for Media on March 16, 2010 in Beverly Hills, California. They stressed that the “Castle” season 8 finale would be the series’ finale.

Executive producers Alexi Hawley and Terence Paul Winter wanted to cap off the show’s run with a happy note of their own. Beckett has her hand on Castle’s face. Castle was one of two surprising cancellations at ABC, along with Nashville, which was axed after four seasons. The drama continually hit new series lows throughout the season, and while the numbers werent as dismal as they probably could have been, no one would call Castles ratings this TV season great. Fans are left free to imagine if either or both of them eventually get a promotion or succeed in other aspects of their lives.

In any case, while most of the characters were celebrating at the local cop bar, Castle and Beckett return home for some breakfast, to be followed no doubt by a morning session of enjoying being married.

“Well. That’s it. Thank you, everyone. (Mic drop) Castle out”. Beckett’s husband is captured and given a truth serum so he can reveal the people who know about LokSat. Mason was about to kill Beckett when Castle arrived, after forcing Flynn to tell him the location. So all of a sudden, the camera slowly panned from Castle and Beckett’s bodies on the ground and through an empty room.

“You have to kind of weigh and measure a lot of different things”, the ABC president continued, “even though Castle and Nashville were wonderful shows for us and good performers for a long time… the future for us did not necessarily lie in those shows”. The only real highlight was a pretty decent shootout and Nathan Fillion’s performance, which succeeded in bringing a tear to our eye.

When Mason arrived to question Castle and identified himself as LokSat, the confused author tearfully caved under the power of the medication and admitted his police-captain wife Kate, detective friends, mother and daughter all knew of LokSat’s existence, if not his true name. Hey, in the end, all that should really matter is the two finally achieved their happily ever after.
