Cate Blanchett’s ‘Carol’ to premiere at London Film Festival
It marks the first of two films starring Cate Blanchett in this year’s Oscar race, alongside her role in fact-based drama Truth opposite Robert Redford. It’s directed by Todde Haynes, best known for Far From Heaven and I’m Not There, shooting from a script penned by Phyllis Nagy. Rounding out the cast are Kyle Chandler as Carol’s husband, who’s suspicious of her relationship with Therese, and Jake Lacy as Therese’s clueless boyfriend. The film will receive its UK Premiere on Wednesday October 14 at the Odeon Leicester Square, attended by Academy Award nominated director Todd Haynes and his luminous stars Academy Award victor Cate Blanchett and Academy Award nominee Rooney Mara. Rooney Mara plays Therese Belivet, a young woman in her 20s working in a department store who dreams of a more fulfilling life, and Cate Blanchett is Carol, an alluring women trapped in a loveless, convenient marriage.
