Catholics attend Good Friday service in droves

The practice is part of the “Easter Triduum”, which begins with the Holy Thursday and concludes with Easter Sunday.

As we are very close to Easter, I’m excited to celebrate the resurrection of our Savior. It is a time to remember how Jesus’ coming sacrifice and Passover are connected.

The observance of Good Friday has existed for centuries. In trying to reconcile this theological question, some say that it was Jesus who died on the cross, but not God. Metal shards from bombs sliced through victims’ flesh and bone just as surely as nails and spear bit into Jesus’s. And while that is good, even great, how that happens is painful every time I read about it, every time I think about it, because it is so personal. What the authorities and Romans did to Jesus was definitely not good (see Matthew chapters 26-27). So did yours, but I’m concerned with my failings, not yours.

According to Wikipedia Easter eggs are decorated eggs that are often given to celebrate Easter or springtime. Doing a foot-washing in remembrance of how Christ humbled Himself and washed the feet of the disciples is a powerful reminder of how we are to live the Christian life (Philippians 2:1-11).

He does so for one reason and one reason only – because he loves us more than we could ever imagine – completely, unconditionally, and eternally.
