Cauvery row: PM pained over violence in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu
The Karnasha officials said that because the states had not enough water supply, hence the dispute between the two states, over the Cauvery River. “This dispute can only be solved within the legal ambit. Karnataka should take immediate steps to rein in those indulging in violence and also honour the Supreme Court directive to release Cauvery water”, he told a press conference held here on Tuesday to mark his 100 days in office.

Adding that nation building was above everything else PM Modi asked people to display sensitivity and to remember their civic responsibilities.
“Violence can not provide a solution to any problem. In a democracy, solutions are found through restraint and mutual dialogue”, successive tweets about the PM’s statement said.
“The violence and arson seen in the last two days is only causing loss to the poor, and to our nation’s property”, the Prime Minister said.
Stressing the need to maintain peace, Naidu had said that people should refrain from attacking people from the other linguistic groups, living in their states, as they have also significantly contributed towards the development of the state.
The massive protest in Karnataka over the Cauvery water issue took a bad turn on Monday with angry mob burning Tamil Nadu-registered trucks and buses on the roads and vandalizing shops in the Bengaluru city.
The Supreme Court modified its last week’s order, asking the Karnataka Government to release to Tamil Nadu 12,000 cusecs of Cauvery water- 3,000 cusecs less than what was directed last week-daily till Sept 20.
“Security across the city remains tight and ban order under section 144 of the CrPC on assembling of more than five persons at public places and populated areas continues till further order to ensure peace and prevent any untoward incident”, said Police Commissioner N.S. Megharikh.
Some 15,000 policemen have been posted across the city.
An appeal was made by Karnataka and ended in a smaller amount of water being delivered towards Tamil Nadu. Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh had earlier telephonically talked to Chief Ministers of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu and inquired about the situation and offered all possible assistance.
At least 30 activists of a fringe Tamil outfit were arrested here today when they tried to stage a demonstration in front of Karnataka Association office here, in protest against attacks on Tamils in that state over the Cauvery issue.

The Minister also appealed to media to exercise restraint while reporting the incidents from the two states.
