Wallace, who was also on the 2014 Lou Groza watch list, made 15 of 19 field-goal tries and all 50 of his extra points last season, and his 51 career field goals are nine shy of tying Art Carmody’s school record. Blanding was included on the watch list for the Chuck Bednarik Award, given annually to the best defensive player in the country.

The award is named in honor of one of the all-time great kickers in football history, Lou Groza. He had the most field goals in the SEC last fall, also leading all NCAA freshmen.

Fairbairn has connected on 29 straight field goal attempts from 35 yards and in and has handled all of the Bruin placekicking chores in his first three seasons in the program. The Groza Committee will be watching all FBS kickers during the season, and releasing a weekly “Stars of the Week” feature on www.lougrozaaward.com.

The Groza Award semifinalists will be named on November 5, 2015 and the three finalists will be revealed on November 23, 2015. Although an All-Pro offensive lineman as well, Groza ushered in the notion that there should be a place on an National Football League roster for a kicker.
