Some bureaucrats were surprised to see the presence of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s trusted lieutenant Principal Secretary (services) and 1989 batch IAS officer Rajendra Kumar in the officers’ gallery inside the Delhi Assembly during one-day special session on Tuesday.
It also fixed hearing on the issue of possible action against CBI officials for January 6. The Modi government, he alleged, was looking for a file pertaining to a DDCA scam that implicated Finance Minister Arun Jaitley.
In these audio files, Kumar seems to be passing on instructions to his associates about how to influence and manipulate contracts in favour of a private company Endeavour Systems Private Limited. Government sources said that the second note was an amendment to what had been presented in Monday’s cabinet meeting.
Kumar has been booked under 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code and 13(2), 13(1)(d) of the Prevention of Corruption Act (criminal conspiracy, criminal misconduct etc) for allegedly favouring a private company in five contracts worth Rs 9.5 crore during 2007-14.
On December 15, the CBI raided the office of Rajendra Kumar in connection with a corruption case.
