“CBI emphatically denies having searched the office of Delhi chief minister”.
“It is not a raid on Arvind Kejriwal’s office, it was a raid on Rajender Kumar, principal secretary to the CM [chief minister]”, CBI spokesperson Devpreet Singh told BBC Hindi.
The FIR against Rajender Kumar alleges abusing of his official position and granting favours to a private firm in bagging state government contracts.
He said his office didn’t maintain files beyond 10-15 days old. However, Kejriwal hit back, saying it had “lied” and that his office files are being looked into to “get evidence” against him.
Kejriwal also launched a fresh attack on Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, saying he had “misled” Parliament by saying that the CBI did not raid the Chief Minister’s office. The CBI had come to search for the DDCA files which have Arun Jaitley’s name, as he was the former President of DDCA and probe is on in the case.
“They wanted the file of DDCA…”
Arvind Kejriwal contended that Rajendra Kumar was just an excuse and that he was the main target.
“If they were looking for proof of corruption, they should be looking for the concerned files in those departments”.
Communist Party of India (CPI) leader D. Raja said, “The BJP-led Union Government and Mr. Modi should acknowledge that there is an elected government and a CM in Delhi; I think the Union Government is still finding it hard to acknowledge that reality and act accordingly. If the tenders were wrong, why didn’t the CBI raid offices of ministers in Sheila Dikshit government?”
He alleged that a deal had taken place between Kejriwal and corrupt bureaucrats.
The party also demanded an apology from Kejriwal for his comments against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Sources said Rajinder Kumar is notorious for corruption.
Mann had then moved to the other side of the Well and was standing near the Prime Minister’s seat when the incident occured. “You may have scared others but I am not going to be scared of CBI, You don’t know what I am made of”, Mr Kejriwal said.

“The raids which were conducted today at 14 different spots simultaneously, out of which two spots belong to officers working in the secretariat of the Chief Minister”.
