A new “Supergirl” trailer features some never-before-seen footage that introduces Kara Zor-El’s superpowers and nemeses on the upcoming CBS show.
Supergirl certainly is not shying away from the character’s comic book roots, but it remains to be seen if the CBS audience will form the same kind of fandoms that Arrow, The Flash, Gotham, Constantine, and Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. have so far.
Have you been keeping track of the Supergirl marketing campaign? In the new show the story picks up with Kara having kept her powers a secret on Earth for the past 12 years.
The trailer, according to Entertainment Weekly and The Hollywood Reporter, aired during the second season premiere of CBS’ “Scorpion”.
Along with Benoist, the series cast also includes Mehcad Brooks as former Daily Planet photographer James Olsen, Laura Benanti as Alura Zor-El, Calista Flockhart as media mogul Cat Grant, Chyler Leigh as Alex Danvers, Jeremy Jordan as Winslow Schott, Jenna Dewan Tatum as Lois Lane’s sister Lucy, Iddo Goldberg as Red Tornado, David Harewood as Department of Extra-Normal Operations chief Hank Henshaw, and Peter Facinelli as Maxwell Lord.
Twelve-year-old Kara escaped the doomed planet Krypton with her parents’ help at the same time as the infant Kal-El. Though Kara will need to find a way to manage her newfound empowerment with her very human relationships, her heart soars as she takes to the skies as Supergirl to fight crime.
The pilot episode of Supergirl was co-written by Ali Adler (No Ordinary Family) and Greg Berlanti (Arrow, The Flash), who are also executive producing the series.
