CDC confirms 5th imported case of Zika virus in nation
As mosquitoes become more prevalent over the summer months, it’s essential for citizens to take the necessary precautions to reduce their risk of being bit and possibly getting Zika.

The third non-travel related case, however, was contracted in Miami-Dade County outside the area, the state report said.
As a result, the potential for sexual transmission of a virus linked to babies being born with shrunken brains and skulls may be greater than previously thought.
To help residents resolve questions about the virus and its spread, the state has set up a Zika Virus Information Hotline at 1-855-622-6735. The U.S. surgeon general is urging Puerto Rico on Thursday, Aug. 11, to step up its public education campaign against Zika as he warned that 25 percent of the island will be infected with the mosquito-borne virus by year’s end.
The virus is spread by Aedes aegypti mosquitoes, which also spread several other risky tropical diseases.
Florida is the first USA state to report locally-transmitted Zika cases. Nine days after he began exhibiting symptoms, his plasma tested positive for Zika.
As of Friday, two individuals in Miami-Dade County have been infected with Zika through local transmission who live outside the transmission area.
Pregnant women can be infected with Zika virus in any trimester, and there have been increased cases of microcephaly possibly associated with Zika virus infections. “We also work with mosquito control agencies throughout the state who conduct mosquito testing in areas of known human cases to determine if mosquitos in those areas are carrying the virus”.

No vaccine or medication is now available to treat the virus. (The literature now tells men who may have been infected with Zika to wait at least six months before having unprotected sex or attempting to father a child.) But two recent cases suggest the virus can hang out in a man’s cum for at least twice that long. To protect yourself and your family from WNV, use effective mosquito repellents while outdoors when mosquitoes are active and eliminate standing water around your home.
