Ceiling panels fall as United flight has ‘bouncy’ landing at Newark

United flight 557, a Boeing 767, was landing in Newark from Houston on Tuesday when it “bounced down the runway”, according to reports.
Judging from video, passengers also seemed bemused when a member of cabin crew welcomed the passengers to Newark when they were sure they were still in the air.
Flight attendants, who were strapped to their seats for the landing, rushed down the plane aisle to reassure passengers and make sure everyone was safe.
United Airlines released a statement saying that there were 214 passengers on the flight, but that there were no reported injuries.
Another passenger said: “One of the panels fell right next to my seatmate and I”.
Passengers cheered when the plane landed safely on its second attempt.
