So I was doing Family Ties in the daytime and Back to the Future at night.

The shoes were auctioned on eBay, raising over $4.7 million (£3.1 million) for Fox’s foundation. The day that California teen Marty McFly (played by Michael J. Fox), and his eccentric scientist friend Doc Brown (Christopher Lloyd) travel to the future in a souped-up Delorean-turned time machine.

Back in 2011, the Nike Air Mag, the shoes that Marty McFly wore in Back to the Future II, were released to a ravenous fan base.

Back to the Future is without a doubt one of the best time-travel movies ever, one that’s been immortalized with a phrase that Lloyd says is the quote he hears most often from fans: “Roads?”

Nearly 30 years ago we embarked on a journey to create a glimpse into ‘the future.’ Although the project started as science fiction, we’re now proud to turn that fiction into fact.

Based on the language included in the announcement, the limited edition version could just the first version of self-lacing shoes.

Well, we gotta blame the sweep on something, so congratulations, Marty McFly. While we’ve yet to get power laces (though Nike says they’re coming) or a self-drying jacket, smart clothing has been here for a number of years.
