On Monday, Twitter turned 10 years old, hitting another milestone as questions linger about the company’s ability to attract more users.

However, Twitter has faith in its CEO Jack Dorsey, who rolled out “Moments” a year ago, a feature that helps users as well as brands curate the best of tweets, videos and images.

It is exactly 10 years since social media website Twitter came into being. It was created on 21st March 2006 by Jack Dorsey, Evan Williams, Biz Stone, and Noah Glass and launched in July 2006. “We are excited to celebrate with all of you”, it went on to say.

This could be a confirmation that Twitter would continue with its unique 140-character limit.

News outlets in particular were very tentative when starting out, not doing much more than tweeting out headlines and links.

Twitter Inc. executives have acknowledged their struggle to convince people the service is essential.

Most media personalities just carried on a normal conversation when they joined Twitter-Rupert Murdoch recommended a book, while Arianna Huffington talked about the economy. U.S. President Barack Obama marked his re-election in 2012 with a tweet of “four more years” and a photo of him hugging his wife Michelle. As of May 2015, Twitter has more than 500 million users, out of which more than 332 million are active. According to market reports, at this point, it is nearly impossible for Twitter and its 300 million users to fade into anonymity.

Mr. Dorsey promised that the company is set for a turnaround.

And while it has flirted with the idea of expanding that limit, it is sticking with the limit for now-and indeed, it uses that limit to the maximum in a “Happy Birthday” message to itself in a new video thanking users for a decade of growth.

In 2009, a tweet first notified the world that a US Airways flight had made an emergency landing on the Hudson River.
