According to report, Celine Dion took two career breaks to look after her husband after he was diagnosed with throat cancer, first in 2000.
Celine Dion has cancelled her Las Vegas performances this weekend following the death of her husband, manager Rene Angelil.
Angelil was born in Montreal to a Canadian mother and a Syrian father.
A spokesman for the singer, Marc Olivier, said more information would be given in the coming days, but for now the family wished to be left to mourn in private. “I had shivers all over, you know”.
Celine won Grammy awards for songs including the “Titanic” theme “My Heart Will Go On”. Angelil believed in Celine’s talent that he mortgaged his home in 1981 just to fund her first album. “Celine will return to The Colosseum on February 23 to resume performances”. He was 73. Dion and Angélil had been married since 1994.
René leaves behind the couple’s 14-year-old son René-Charles, and four-year-old twins Nelson and Eddy, as well as three grown-up children from two previous marriages.
