René Angelil, husband and former manager to Céline Dion, has passed away from cancer at the age of 73. “The family requests that their privacy be respected at the moment; more details will be provided at a later time”.

About their union solidified, modeling to get a shoot along with her husband in March only Dion opened up.

Celine, 47, has canceled two shows, Saturday and Sunday, at her Caesars Palace residency to deal with his death.

Celine and Angelil have three children. Dion has said that Angelil mortgaged his house to finance her first album. They met when she was only 12 years, and before becoming her husband, he was her mentor and manager.

Angelil was born in Montreal to a Canadian mother and Syrian father. Celine Dion paid a tribute to her late husband in the most emotional way. However, it was Dion’s voice that launched both of their careers into the pedestal.

A message on the star’s website said the shows this weekend at Caesar’s Palace had been cancelled.

“He’s working really hard on his health”, Dion said at the 2015 Billboard Music Awards.

René, 73, is also survived by the couple’s three children – five-year-old twins Nelson and Eddy and René-Charles, 14 – and his adult children from a previous relationship – Anne-Marie, Patrick and Jean-Pierre.
