Dion, wearing a shoulder-baring black dress and her hair in a soft bun, didn’t sing during the Las Vegas memorial but her famous discography was on display throughout the night. Dion claimed her husband of 21 years was coming through to her via the audience members, stating that she could feel the love he had for her shining through each of them.
She said: “This is my home away from home”.
In a message published in French on her website, Celine wrote: “We thank from the bottom of our heart all the people who have expressed their love for Rene during these trying times”.
While she didn’t sing, wife Celine Dion still gave a breathtakingly loving and heart-breaking tribute speech where she praised the attendees for their arrival and reflected on the love and support that Angelil had given her over the course of her career. Celine Dion leaves the church with her children, Rene-Charles, center left, and twins Eddy and Nelson after funeral services for her husband Rene Angelil, at Notre Dame Basilica Friday, Jan. 22, 2016 in Montreal. Angelil loved his family, gambling and dining and entertaining. He had three sons with Dion, who took a year-long hiatus to care for her spouse before he died. By the late 1990s and 2000s, her soaring voice had become dominant on the radio. She rolled her eyes when she first heard it played on the piano.
