Celine Dion Pours Out Her Heart in ‘Today’ Summer Concert

“I have to tell you I feel very strong”, Celine responded. They know what’s going on. They know that dad is not coming back. “They know that they have to live with him, but differently…” “I didn’t make this like a drama thing. To give them permission to be okay”, Gifford said. “People have a tendency to send me really sad songs, and we do want to sing the touching songs, but life is attractive, and I really want to believe that René has a life after his life, that he doesn’t suffer anymore”. “He’s in our hearts”.

The pop superstar was plunged into mourning in January (16), when she lost her longtime love Rene, and she was dealt a second blow just two days later as her brother, Daniel, who had battled the same disease, passed away on what would have been Rene’s 74th birthday. “It’s been a journey”. It’s been hard seeing the love of your life suffering for the last three years.

However, upon René’s passing, the “Power of Love” singer realized there would be greater responsibility on her shoulders as a single parent-a weight she embraced wholeheartedly.

As for how her kids are coping with their dad’s death, Dion shared, “My kids are doing great, so I’m doing great – and if I’m doing great, then my kids are doing well”. “Showing our kids that mom is fine and you’re going to be OK”.

“And most importantly my beloved husband who I know will continue to watch over me from above. I’m very proud to have three magnificent sons”.

“It’s all about feeling very strong and positive”.

“I lost the man of my life”, Dion said as Gifford started to cry.

Praising her fans further, she added: “Every day I go out and there are hundreds of people giving me paintings of [René Angélil], letters for me, books to soothe me, products for me to take time for myself, sweets for the kids, coloring books”.
