Daniel Dion had been fighting brain, tongue and throat cancer, TMZ reported. “He will be remembered as a gentle man, generous and kind, an unprecedented visionary, a modern Pygmalion, a Renaissance man”, Celine wrote on her official Facebook page.

In the summer of 2014, Dion, one of Canada’s most internationally renowned vocalists, called off her concerts to take care of Angelil, with whom she had three sons: Rene-Charles, 14, and the 5-year-old twins Eddy and Nelson.

Rene Angelil, the singer’s husband and one-time agent, died Thursday in Las Vegas of another battle against cancer.

Daniel Dion, the father of two daughters, was the eighth of 14 Dion children. The funeral for 73-year-old Angelil will be held next Friday at Montreal’s Notre Dame Basilica, the same church the two were married in 1994.

Daniel will be honored at a religious funeral at St-Simon-et-Jude, in Charlemagne Québec, where the family was raised. Angelil, who discovered the Canadian pop diva and managed her career, died Thursday at age 73 after a struggle with cancer. He died in a care center outside Quebec. The singer has yet to make a comment about her brother’s passing. Meanwhile, a commemorative celebration will be held on February 3 at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. She canceled shows this weekend but told her fans she would be back on stage next month and resume her regular show schedule.
