Celine Dion’s weekend concerts cancelled after Rene Angelil’s death

Celine Dion paid a tribute to her late husband in the most emotional way. The couple finally tied the knot in December 1994 and Angelil has been managing Celine career ever since until he came down with throat cancer. He had also struggled with heart problems after an arterial blockage in 2009.

He was diagnosed with throat cancer in 1999 (Dion put aside her career then as well) and had surgery in December 2013 that removed part of his tongue and limited his speech.

Rene Angelil, the husband and former manager of Celine Dion, has died aged 73, the singer has announced.

Rene was born in Montreal to a Canadian mother and Syrian father.

The pair first met when Dion was only 12 and he was 38 after her brother sent Angelil a recording of Dion singing.

Celine revealed a year ago that he was so ill he had to be fed through tubes, but that he wanted her to keep performing. She, however, returned to her residency at the Colosseum on August 27.

He also has a son and daughter from his previous two marriages. “René wants to know”, Dion said.

Angelil and Dion had three children together, Rene-Charles, 14, and twin boys Nelson and Eddy, 5. “Thank U for Celine + for giving her my songs Thank U for everything + I’m hoping there r casinos in Heaven”. He can’t eat so I feed him.

Last year, Dion told USA Today she was preparing for her husband’s death.
