Celine Dion to speak but won’t sing at Rene Angelil memorial
She thanked fans for their support in a statement last week, saying she and her family are “deeply touched by the outpouring of love”.

At the end of her speech, Dion became very emotional and let the tears flow down her face. “I feel his strength and his warmth reflected in all of you”, she told the audience.
The pop star said he kept her grounded and protected her from the gritty business details of her superstar career. Several speakers will be on hand to share their favorite stories and memories. She rolled her eyes when she first heard it played on the piano, and there were questions about the negative press the movie had gotten on reports that it was over budget and had on-set fighting. “Rene, I love you so much”. Celine referred to him as “the only boyfriend I ever had”.
Rene lost his battle with cancer in January and his official memorial was held in his native Montreal, at the church where he Wednesday the My Heart Will Go On singer in 1994 and they baptised their first son, Rene-Charles.
“Thank you also to the Government of Quebec for holding a national funeral, as well as to the many individuals and organisations who worked to provide a final tribute to the height of the man he was”.
In a message published in French on her website, Celine wrote: “We thank from the bottom of our heart all the people who have expressed their love for Rene during these trying times”.
The French-Canadian couple had celebrated their 21st wedding anniversary on 17 December.

At the Las Vegas memorial, the mother and son will be joined by Angelil’s children from previous marriages and his brother, Dion’s publicist Kim Jakwerth said.
