BRENDAN Rodgers has revealed that one of his first Old Firm heroes was Rangers legend Davie Cooper.

Rodgers’ men now sit top of the table, despite having played a game less than Rangers, having taken maximum points from their first three matches of the season.

He said: “The last one was at a neutral venue at Hampden but we’ve got good memories of that game and the players take great confidence from winning it – albeit that it was on penalties – but on the day we played well and I felt we deserved to win”.

“It’s important for us to go to different venues and deliver a consistent level of performance and whatever happens on Saturday, whether we score the first or concede the first, it won’t change our approach”. You’ll see that on Saturday, you see it in European games, we’ve seen it over history.

They live and breathe Celtic, Celtic is their passion and the Rangers supporters, they are passionate for their team as well.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference at the club’s Lennoxtown training complex, Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers said: “He (Griffiths) had a week’s rest”. We had analysis with the players just now and it’s been pointed out by many of them: same scenario, we are going to get beaten by three or four.

The former Celtic and Scotland striker said of the semi-final: “I really believed, hand on heart, that we would win that game, and I thought we would have won it well”. If you had offered people that at the start of the season, unbeaten four games going into an Old Firm game, then I think you would have taken it.

“It was a disappointment they lost the semi-final, of course”. I don’t think so.

So Rodgers feels he should remind his players what is expected of them. They have also added the likes of Scott Sinclair and Kolo Toure but Warburton does not see it as a particularly different challenge.

What TV channel is showing Celtic v Rangers?

Warburton made wholesale changes to his Rangers squad over the summer and admits his new brood are still gelling together.

Question marks have been raised over the fitness of the 32-year-old midfielder, but he has shown glimpses of class already this season, including a stunning 25-yard strike in last week’s 7-0 friendly win over Linfield.

However, Forrest is revitalised under Rodgers, and has no only been playing some of his best football in recent times, but has also penned a new deal to stay with the club and hopefully continue his progress under Rodgers. “But if we can do that then we are more than confident we can get the right result”.
