Celtic skipper Scott Brown dismisses Rangers as ‘boys’ after Old Firm demolition

Rangers have drawn two of their first four Ladbrokes Premiership games and won the other two narrowly, but Miller’s belief in Mark Warburton’s managerial methods is unshakeable ahead of Saturday’s Parkhead clash.

It was the ideal start for Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers in his first Old Firm match in charge.

The Gers are playing in the Scottish Premiership this season after winning promotion from the Scottish Championship easily at the end of the 2015-16 campaign.

It was yet another painful blow for a club who have been put through the wringer since their well-documented financial implosion. We know we have the game to hurt anybody.

“For us to come back (after the worldwide break) and play to that intensity and that level and be that clinical, it was a joy to see”, he said. We are going into a local derby with 60,000 fans, 52,500 of which will be backing one side.

The beneficiaries of a decision which, from a Celtic perspective, made no economic sense have been those sides in the lower reaches of the Scottish pyramid.

The Light Blues enjoyed positive spells at the start of the first half and second but struggled to cope with Celtic’s frontline on this occasion.

Rangers boss Mark Warburton hands a debut to former Arsenal, Aston Villa and Fulham defender Philippe Senderos so Clint Hill drops out.

Rodgers’ men again highlighted some of the fundamental flaws in Gers’ backline, with Senderos and Rob Kiernan at sixes and sevens for most of the afternoon.

Demeble’s trio of goals was the first in the fixture since 1984, when Ally McCoist bagged the match ball as Rangers claimed the League Cup with a 3-2 win in the Hampden final. To incorporate that number of players into a style and system and to get us all to play it flawlessly as we did when we hit the ground running last season is harder.

“The worst thing we can do is feel sorry for ourselves”.

“Just made sure he was all right”, Brown said.

“We have to stay together”. We are looking forward to it, it’s a tough place to go but we are absolutely relishing this encounter. He had a scan and we’ll see how that is over the next 24 hours. Bedecked in green, white and orange bin-liners (which they wore throughout) it gave some extra colour to that area of the ground.

“Opportunities come up through the course of a career and you choose the roads you want to go down”. We have to be courageous and thick-skinned as individuals and as a team. A guy who understands the effect of what happens on the field.
