Celtics, Cavs, Pelicans reportedly talking 3-team deal involving Love

A potential package that works in ESPN’s trade machine is Love heading to Boston; Anderson and Omer Asik to Cleveland; and David Lee and Timofey Mozgov to the Pelicans. Not even in a trade that would bring Ryan Anderson to Cleveland. Love is the player that the Cavs gave up Andrew Wiggins to acquire, so it’s possible that expectations surpassed what he could actually do on the court. Now back to Kevin Love…

Boston is sitting on a stockpile of assets ready to pounce at the opportunity to deal for a difference-maker like Love, but the Cavs aren’t interested in draft picks or young players.

Love, 27, is averaging 15.7 points, his fewest since 2009, 10.3 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game. Featuring two dominant ball-handlers in James and Irving, Anthony would be subjected to assume a similar role as Love in the Cavaliers run-and-gun offense, something which would not be easy for the nine-time All-Star to stomach. “Anderson can replicate 85 percent of Love’s skill set”. New Orleans could be that team if the Cavs see Anderson as an acceptable alternative to Love that would allow them to add other pieces to their core.

Currently, almost half of Love’s field goal attempts per game are three-pointers (5.6 threes attempted per game out of 12.7 shots).

Ryan Anderson is a power forward who could possibly help the Cavs spread the floor. “Things that you can’t control, you can’t let it bother you, and I’ve learned that over the years”, LeBron said.

Danny Ainge and the Boston Celtics have their eyes on the prize.

The Cleveland Cavaliers could strike a blockbuster deal at the February 18 deadline in a potential three-way transaction with the New Orleans Pelicans and Boston Celtics.

The Cavaliers have been in a nebulous place when it comes to Love over the past week, with a mix of “he’s absolutely not on the table” and “well, for the right price they’ll listen” being mixed into a lot of noise. It is obvious Love is not at his best in this system, Maybe a trade for a big man like Greg Monroe would be more fitting.
