Celtics reportedly agree to one-year deal with Gerald Green
Gerald Green has agreed on a one-year deal to return to Boston. He started 14 of 69 games for Miami past year, averaging 8.9 points and 2.4 rebounds per game.

Sixers center Jahlil Okafor is said to be among the Celtics’ trade targets. The second-year of the deal will be non-guaranteed for the big man, a very similar arrangement to the one Jonas Jerebko and Amir Johnson signed on for with the team last summer.
Players like Jimmy Butler of the Chicago Bulls, DeMarcus Cousins of the Sacramento Kings, and Kevin Love of the Cleveland Cavaliers would be great gets for Ainge’s Celtics, but Boston isn’t willing to part ways with Thomas, the lone asset that would have any club’s undeniable interest.
The Boston Celtics have a very full roster and some tough decisions to make, but according to the Boston Globe’s Adam Himmelsbach, no big trades are now imminent. With the Las Vegas Summer League coming to a close and all the important free agents already signed to longish term deals, the National Basketball Association landscape is empty of entertaining things to talk about. If a report from CSN New England is to be believed, Jahlil Okafor might be the player who eventually gets moved.
A league source confirms that Green and the team have agreed on a one-year deal for the league veteran minimum of $1.5 million, as reported by Adam Himmelsbach of the Boston Globe.
Green has shot 36.1 percent beyond the 3-point arc for his career. Horford can fit in nearly any system as he can protect the rim on defense, shoot a decent long range jumper, and pass out of the post. It will be interesting to see how he meshes with free agent signee Al Horford, who has preferred to play power forward.

The Gerald Green Era lasted one tumultuous season with the Miami Heat. Bringing Green on board provides the Celtics with more depth from which to deal if they choose to. The 17th overall pick in 2014, the first of the first-rounders received from Brooklyn, has yet to make the kind of progress the Celts have been expecting. Worse yet, the questions first heard in his rookie year about how important the game is to him have grown more concerted.
