Celtics won’t trade too much for Al Horford, Dwight Howard

One of the more interesting potential trades as of Wednesday night was a potential three-way deal involving the the Cleveland Cavaliers, New Orleans Pelicans and the Boston Celtics. There were a total of nine deals on the day, but none of them involved anything resembling an All-Star caliber player. The Celtics have plenty of assets and realize they could use them to improve their team but Danny Ainge is not going to get rid of them for just any trade.

Reaction from this move is split.

The Celtics are in third place in the Eastern Conference with 32 wins against 23 losses.

Others are growing impatient. Well, a first-round match-up with the Cleveland Cavaliers could be on the horizon.

If you can’t tell, I find the second group to be somewhat insane.

Blake Griffin, PF, Los Angeles Clippers: Griffin was recently suspended for reportedly punching a team employee, adding literal insult to injury – Griffin broke his hand in the incident. They have a number of young players and prospects and future first round picks including the one from the Brooklyn Nets which is expected to be a lottery pick in the 2016 NBA Draft. “And you hear also where there’s stars that don’t’ get along and they don’t really max out the talent that’s on the team”. He attempted 359 three-pointers during the 2014-15 National Basketball Association season and has already attempted 274 of them this year.

Blakely also mentioned that the deal is “very fragile” at this point but this time is probably the best opportunity for the Boston Celtics to get their star player.

“I’m excited to be an ambassador for the CIS Men’s Final 8 Championships to be held this year at UBC”, Olynyk said in a statement released by UBC. Horford has the current Celtics centers beat defensively as well, with 1.3 steals per game and 1.5 blocks per game (neither Celtics center averages even 1 in either category).

Anderson posted averages of 16.7 points and 5.9 rebounds this season.

Has the rebuild gone perfectly? While fellow newcomer David Lee has failed to make an impact, Johnson has provided the Celtics with both solid minutes and defense. Just like there isn’t for any other team in a league driven by stars. “I look more at how we’re playing and where our holes are and what we need to do”, he said. It would be great if he could, but that’s not how life, nor sports, work.

Dwight Howard, C, Houston Rockets: Houston is having a bad season by any measure, and Howard can opt out of his contract at the end of the year.

Do either of those sound all that appealing? Love would provide the Celtics with a very good player who very well could bring the Celtics some extra power in their quest for Championships, without the worry of trying to resign him (signed through 2020).

We are all allowed to do that at our own pace, and certainly that includes anyone who’s frustrated right now. “The Knicks? I don’t know where that rumor came from”.
