Police, alerted to the video by several people, arrested Ruth yesterday on suspicion of tampering with four red-light cameras in the past week, the Daily News reports.
Suffolk County police arrested 42-year-old Stephen Ruth at his Centereach home on charges of criminal tampering and obstruction of governmental administration. “Naturally, I thought I was going to be arrested”, he said of the tampering charge. You just push the camera upward. “I did it for the people who come back from war and get abused by these cameras”.
Ruth’s smiling mug shot is currently posted on his Facebook page and one person commented he should make it his profile picture now. In the videos he says that he is doing this for the sake of hard-working Americans who get caught by these cameras, and he shares the videos so that others can carry on the fight. These same seniors live in New York’s high cost environment and are being forced out of New York because of its high taxes. In the video, Ruth is wearing a white shirt and tie as he approaches a red light camera.
He told CBS2’s Carolyn Gusoff that he has personally received six red light tickets, each carrying a fine of $80. This is government taking advantage and it’s going to stop’.
Would it surprise you to learn that Ruth is an adamant fan of one Donald Trump and likes posting memes about Bill and Hillary Clinton being cousins?

The cameras, which have been in operation throughout Suffolk County since 2010, are maintained by Baltimore-based Affiliated Computer Services Inc. Government officials who support the initiative say the cameras prevent crashes by forcing drivers to hit the brakes when a traffic light turns yellow.
