CEO at Democratic National Committee resigns

The Democratic National Committee’s CEO, Amy Dacey, has resigned along with the party’s chief financial officer and communications director.

Dacey rarely appeared in the hacked emails – save for one damning instance when she appeared to support an attack on Sanders’ ambiguous religion beliefs.

In July, WikiLeaks published nearly 20,000 pages of hacked emails that revealed top DNC officials deliberately worked to obstruct Bernie Sanders’ presidential campaign in order to boost Hillary Clinton’s chances of becoming the party’s nominee.

Dacey’s resignation was first reported by Politico.

It’s also a safe bet that DNC officials never thought they would get caught. Schultz’s replacement, Donna Brazile, praised the departing staffers in a statement, but did not mention the email scandal that caused considerable anguish within the Democratic party, especially among Bernie Sanders supporters.

“This election is the most important of my life time, and the DNC will continue to recruit top talent to help lead the fight to elect Hillary Clinton and Democrats across the country”, Brazile said in a statement. Barack Obama, and it asked, “Just how black is he?” would Marshall’s email then have read, “Can we say he is not really that black because Mr. Marshall’s “peeps” could not vote for a very black candidate?”

Numerous other examples of the cozy relationship between reporters and the DNC – along with examples of media bias – can be found at newsbusters.org. Expect the promised additional emails to add more to the public’s dislike of journalists.

To replace the departing staffers, Brazile announced a transition team that will help fill key roles at the DNC until a new chair is chosen early next year.

Wasserman Schultz announced her resignation last week as the party’s convention was getting underway, and Brazile, who had been the committee’s vice chairwoman, has stepped in as its interim leader. Additionally, veteran Democratic strategist Doug Thornell will serve as an interim senior adviser to the party.
