Super Bowl victor and former New Orleans Saints defensive end Will Smith was gunned down and killed on Sunday by a man who had rear-ended his vehicle.

The video shows the chaos and sirens at the scene after Will Smith was killed Saturday night and Racquel Smith was shot in the leg.
He was shot just minutes after the couple drove away from the restaurant where this last photo was taken.
The video also shows Hayes in handcuffs, while Smith’s wife is screaming in the background that she had been shot and needed a medic.
Police say after an accident, Smith and Hayes “exchanged words” before Hayes shot the former Saints defensive end.
“Two hundred years from now, they’re going to look back and say, ‘What was that madness about?'” Payton told USA TODAY.
Pierre Thomas, a former Saints teammate of Smith’s, had dinner with him before the shooting late Saturday night.
Hayes has been charged with second degree murder, while FOX8 reports that another charge for the shooting of Smith’s wife, Racquel, will be added soon.
“It would be safe to say that not only did my client feel threatened, but citizens that were out there on that block felt threatened as well”, Fuller said.
The two men – both big and imposing – then angrily confronted each other on Felicity Street shortly before midnight.
More surveillance video shows the Hummer come to a quick stop, and the Mercedes appears to possibly tap the vehicle from behind.
“Matthieu, who grew up in New Orleans and plays for the Arizona Cardinals, indicated on his Twitter account that he knew Hayes, 28, and tweeted, “… he been a hating (expletive) coward… “Someone hit him and failed to pull over”.
Hayes is being held on $1 million bond and could face charges in the wounding of Smith’s wife.
“I’m not an extreme liberal”, Payton said.
Police spokesman Tyler Gamble told The Associated Press in an email Sunday that he had no immediate information about the witness or the 911 call.
Hayes called 911 before the shooting, secured a witness who was leaving the scene, and remained at the scene after the shooting until authorities arrived, attorney John Fuller said.
On Monday, Lewis posted a message to the city of New Orleans on his Instagram page about getting “our city together”. “We become desensitized to it. And so many people die, but we pay attention when it’s Will Smith; that forces so many people who wouldn’t normally deal with it to deal with the reality of a awful thing, the gun violence in the city”. The settlement is confidential, said attorney Ike Spears, who represented Hayes in that lawsuit.

Police also said Tuesday that two passengers were riding in Smith’s vehicle at the time of the shooting. As one of the longest tenured Saints players at the time, Smith experienced the lowest of lows as the team struggled to a 3-13 record after being displaced for the 2005 season following Hurricane Katrina. He played his entire career, 10 seasons with the saints. “I think we’ve got the shooters on the scene”.
