Not included in the cost is a PC with a top-notch video card and enough memory to handle the Rift’s demands.

Preordered Oculus Rift units will start shipping in March. In regards to the price, supporters have claimed that the $600 is no different than the $700 people spend on iPhones. Medical training, travel marketing, construction and design are other areas where virtual reality promises great potential, and a number of organizations have already been experimenting with such technologies, he said.
