Chaffetz, House GOP ask US attorney to investigate Clinton over emails
House Republicans on Monday formally asked the Justice Department to investigate Hillary Clinton and determine whether she lied to Congress, a fresh challenge certain to shadow the Democratic presidential candidate.

The ABC News/Washington Post poll conducted by Langer Research Associates found that 56 percent of those surveyed said they “disapprove” of FBI Director James Comey’s decision last week.
You are reading news and information on LongIsland.com, Long Island’s Most Popular Website, Since 1996. Comey has publicly confirmed that Clinton sent 110 classified emails, with 52 email chains where there was classified information contained.
According to the survey, a strong majority of voters (82 per cent) agreed that it was inappropriate for Clinton to use a personal email server during her tenure as the secretary of state.
One of Hillary Rodham Clinton’s main problems with voters is that not very many trust anything she says and believe that she’s dishonest.
“One question at this early stage is whether Clinton can hold onto the small but crucial number of Republican voters who are now supporting her or whether Trump can win them over as well as Democrats backing Johnson”, said Patrick Murray, director of the independent Monmouth University Polling Institute.
Trump called Clinton’s misuse of classified information through her private server “willful, intentional and unlawful”.
Chaffetz and Goodlatte offered no details in their request letter. “Nor had the Federal Bureau of Investigation even considered any of Secretary Clinton’s testimony”.
Even if you don’t believe they discussed the pending criminal case involving the former president’s wife, just the appearance of this ill-advised meeting smells rotten.
“There is absolutely no credible evidence that anyone at the FBI did anything wrong in this investigation, that they pulled any punches, or that they were improperly influenced by anyone outside the agency”, said Rep. Elijah Cummings, D-Md., the top Democrat on the oversight committee.
The lawmakers’ letter doesn’t specify any alleged incidents of perjury, instead referring to Comey’s testimony last week before the Oversight Committee that the truthfulness of Clinton’s remarks to Congress wasn’t within the scope of the FBI’s previous investigation.
Former baseball pitcher Roger Clemens was indicted in 2010 on charges that he lied to Congress, though he was later acquitted, and the Justice Department investigated and later cleared former Internal Revenue Service official Lois Lerner following a referral from politicians.
