Reigning NBA champions Cleveland Cavaliers are still not done in their wheeling and dealing this offseason, as recent rumors are out that they are pursuing free agent center Chris Kaman after learning that their arch-rivals Golden State Warriors are planning to sign another free agent number five, JaVale McGee, to add to their roster. Did LeBron James, who called him as his “favorite player of all time”, had something to do with Jones being re-signed? LeBron told the publication, “I told J.J., as long as I’m playing, he’s going to be around”.

“No one can avoid the ups and downs of the Playoffs, and when many wrote me off after a tough stretch in the Finals… you and the team stuck by me allowing me to flourish and make plays when it mattered most”. Fortunately, the Cavs still have plenty going for them, and we’re going to take a look at what exactly makes Cleveland a serious contender to get the job done and win yet another championship.

There is no denying that Love is an important player in the franchise, scoring from inside and outside as well as getting important rebounds, but there is a sense that he just does not fit perfectly with the team. Though it the Cavs possess already the Big Three of their own, no other than James, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love, they want to be better next season. In a statement, Cavs general manager David Griffin said he is happy to have Jones back, commending his leadership and professionalism that he showed in the two years that he’s been with the team.

Across those six seasons, Jones has appeared in an average of less than 50 games per year, with nightly averages of 12.9 minutes and 4.2 points.

Because Jones is coming back to the Cavaliers next season, there will be a little reunion happening in “The Land”. In an interview last month, Jones said, as reported by CBS Local, “Miami is always open for me”.
