Commenting on the recently held Ballon d’Or, where European and American stars dominated the awards, Adepoju said the non-recognition of Nigerian and other African players is a reflection of then level of football in the continent.

“Tunisia have won it because their league is a solid one, it’s no secret”.

Before today’s win, the CHAN Eagles had played out a 1-1 draw with Angola, while they whipped PSL side AmaTuks in their first outing in their training camp.

Sudan, another member of Council for East and Central Africa Football (CECAFA), hosted the event in 2011, while Kenya will have the chance to showcase their hosting abilities of it in 2018.

He explained that the Super Eagles’ Coach, Sunday Oliseh’s rebuilding process has helped in ensuring that only credible players were called up to play for the country, adding that players now know they can get into the team only through hard work.

Oliseh, the team’s boss, seems to be talking tough following his team’s preparation for the CHAN.

“We’ve had some knocks, but I think everybody is ready”.

Oliseh, who spoke on the readiness of his team for the tournament, said he was confident that Nigeria would be the team to beat in Rwanda. They were kits supplied directly to the Federation by NIKE.

Dalung told NAN: “We expect them to maintain the tempo of the victory that the players have set; I will be in Rwanda myself to be in solidarity with them and to encourage them”.
