Channing Tatum’s ‘Gambit’ Expected to Start Filming in 2017
While there’s no word on what’s next for that foursome, producer and writer Simon Kinberg has revealed in a new interview that with Wolverine: Weapon X now shooting, they’ll have Deadpool 2 in production early next year, with work starting on whatever comes next for the X-Men shortly after.

Channing Tatum is now attached to play the titular hero in Gambit, with Doug Liman scheduled to direct the film. The character Gambit appeared in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, then played by Taylor Kitsch.
Just recently, the people at That Hashtag Show caught up with Kinberg at the 2016 Saturn Awards, which was held last June 22.
It’s been a bit of an up and down year for the X-Men movie universe.
“We’re figuring that out now”, Kingerg responded when asked what’s next from the X-Men franchise. Scriptwriter and producer Reid Carolin is still reportedly working on polishing the script, and production is expected to start sometime next year, too.
Liman has brought us movie such as The Bourne Identity, and Fair Game during his career but we have not seen him in the director’s chair since the success of Edge of Tomorrow back in 2014.
We have a great script on that and hope to shoot that movie at the beginning – or spring – of next year.
Earlier this year, 20th Century Fox took Gambit off the release date calendar to make room for the Deadpool sequel and other Marvel films.
