Dhaka – Bangladesh looks confident right now to face Pakistan in the World T20 in India as they took the upbeat victory against Pakistan recently in T20 Asia Cup format.
Bangladesh have lost their first match of the ICC World Twenty20 2016 by 55 runs to Pakistan at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Wednesday, reports Dhaka Tribune.
The victory was also sweet revenge for Pakistan after having suffered a shock defeat at the hands of Bangladesh in the recent Asia Cup. “And after six overs it was nearly impossible”.
This lack of logic is one of the big reasons why Afridi generates so much interest.
Afridi was exquisite with his shot selection and had all the time to improvise as he raced to 25 from nine balls toying Bangladesh bowlers easily on a fast outfield. Only Lasith Malinga with 38 wickets has more than Afridi in the tournament.
Bangladesh were never really in the hunt and got off to a terrible start when opener Sarkar was bowled by Mohammad Amir with only the third ball. Amir picked up two scalps to end with 2/28.
But after seeing off Oman, the Netherlands and Ireland in the preliminaries, Mortaza knows the hard work now begins in a group that includes India, Australia and New Zealand.
Shehzad was finally got out in 52 runs from 39 balls With 8 boundaries before falling to Mahmudullah off Sabbir Rahman.
– Pakistan have the three leading wicket-takers in T20I history, including Shahid Afridi (93) who is top of this ranking (Saeed Ajmal and Umar Gul are both 85 wickets but are not playing in this tournament). But then Bangladesh struck a partnership.
It did not get easy for them thereafter as Pakistan speedsters Wahab Riaz and Mohammad Irfan kept on bowling in very good areas.
Pakistan pegged back the rivals further by picking up Mushfiqur Rahim (18) and Mohammad Mithun (2) and then quite easily sealed the deal.
But Afridi has been making his own overtures towards the locals by claiming his team has received more “love” from fans in India than back home, comments that incensed former Pakistan skipper Javed Miandad.

Sharjeel fell in the next over to Arafat Sunny and Hafeez walked in and found his groove immediately, with a straight six down the ground off his second ball. His fall came at 49 runs in the last over when he attempted a big hit off Bangladesh strike bowler Taskin Ahmed, who finished with two wickets conceding 32 runs.
