Chargers can do nothing vs. Broncos defense. Leading the Broncos to a road victory over the Chicago Bears and most recently an astounding overtime comeback victory against the previously mentioned undefeated New England Patriots, Brock Osweiler has shown he may in fact be the real deal. Though San Diego was unable to challenge Denver down the field due to missing players such as Keenan Allen, the Broncos did a great job shutting down the passing attack.

Bronco receiver Demaryius Thomas, who caught only one of 13 passes thrown to him last Sunday, responded with a six-of-six, 61-yard outing at San Diego. His worst coming late in the first quarter when he tried to find Antonio Gates on a drag route, but instead found the hands of Danny Trevathan who returned it for a score. That’s why Kubiak feels no urgency to make any pronouncements that Osweiler is his quarterback for the remainder of the season as has been the subject of so much speculation.

Defensively, all the Broncos have to do is maintain discipline against the run while pinning their ears back to get after Philip Rivers. “He seemed like he had a little juice – a little pop to him”, Rivers said.
“We’ve gotten used to it, unfortunately, and us not winning doesn’t help”, said a resigned Rivers. San Diego has a 3-8 record for the year.
The opening drive “was our best, running and throwing”, Thomas said. Gordon leads the league this season in lost fumbles among running backs.
San Diego rookie Josh Lambo kicked a 51-yard field goal just before halftime to avoid a shutout.
